Nicole Makris is an associate attorney at Wanzer Edwards, PC where she focuses her practice in the areas of Family Law, including matters pertaining to dissolution of marriage, child custody, child support, paternity, guardianships and adoption. Ms. Makris is also a trained Guardian ad Litem and assists clients with estate planning. In addition, she represents clients facing criminal charges, including juvenile delinquency matters, traffic violations, and driver’s license suspensions.
Ms. Makris completed her undergraduate degree at Indiana University Bloomington with a major in International Studies and minors in Political Science and Spanish. She earned her Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Ms. Makris has a strong courtroom presence with experience in both criminal and civil courts.
Ms. Makris prides herself on effective communication with not only her clients, but with all parties involved to help facilitate a resolution to a dispute whenever possible. She is committed to seeking the best solutions available under the law for her clients. Her compassion for clients, regardless of their circumstances, makes her an ideal advocate when facing a difficult family or criminal case.
Ms. Makris is admitted to practice law in Indiana and in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. She is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association (“IndyBar”), where she belongs to the Young Lawyers Division and Family Law Section.
In her free time, Ms. Makris enjoys art, travel, and staying involved in local organizations. To give back to the community, Ms. Makris serves as a Pro Bono Guardian ad Litem for Kids’ Voice and is a Friend of the Indianapolis Public Library. She has served as a Board Member of the Young Professionals of Central Indiana, and helped establish the Indianapolis chapter of the Young Professionals of the American Cancer Society as part of the group’s Executive Committee.
